Reservoir ages from South Pacific corals are presented for Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, the Marquesas Islands and Easter Island. All of the measurements were made on pre-bomb Porites corals which lived between 1950 and the 1990s. The data reflect subannual to multiannual surface ocean radiocarbon variations from each site, and illustrate spatial and temporal variability in the reservoir effect in the South Pacific. The talk will focus on the physical oceanography of each locality and its influence over the reservoir effect, past and present.
